AKG P220 High-Performance Condenser Microphone
Capture clear and detailed sound with the AKG P220 condenser microphone. Designed for project studios and live instrument applications, it delivers warm sound for vocals and instruments.
The P220 features a large-diaphragm condenser capsule and a cardioid polar pattern. This helps capture sound from the front while reducing sound from the rear. As a result, it is a practical choice for vocal recording and instrument applications.
Large-Diaphragm Condenser Capsule
The AKG P220 uses a 1-inch large-diaphragm true condenser capsule. It offers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, helping capture a wide range of sound details.
Use it to record lead vocals, acoustic guitar, brass, piano and strings. It is also suitable for other compatible studio and live instrument applications.
Cardioid Polar Pattern
The cardioid polar pattern focuses on sound coming from the front of the microphone. It also reduces sensitivity to sound from the rear.
This makes the P220 useful for recording individual performers and instruments. It can also help reduce unwanted background sound when the microphone is positioned correctly.
Switchable -20 dB Attenuation Pad
The P220 includes a switchable -20 dB pre-attenuation pad. This feature helps the microphone handle loud sound sources without overloading its input.
Without the pad, its maximum SPL is 135 dB. With the pad engaged, it can handle up to 155 dB SPL.
This makes it suitable for recording louder instruments and other high-volume sound sources.
Switchable Bass-Cut Filter
The built-in bass-cut filter operates at 300 Hz with a 12 dB/octave slope. It helps reduce unwanted low-frequency sound, including rumble and other bass-related noise.
You can use this feature to improve your recording setup in different environments.
Clear Sound with Low Noise
The AKG P220 features an equivalent noise level of 16 dB-A and a signal-to-noise ratio of 78 dB-A.
Its 20 mV/Pa sensitivity supports detailed sound capture. These specifications make it suitable for vocal and instrument recording in project studios.
Balanced XLR Connection
The microphone features a balanced 3-pin XLR output. Connect it to a compatible audio interface, mixer or microphone preamp.
The P220 requires 44–52 V phantom power to operate. Therefore, ensure your audio equipment provides compatible phantom power before use.
Included Accessories
The AKG P220 comes with useful accessories for your recording setup.
- Spider Shock Mount: Helps isolate the microphone from vibrations transmitted through the microphone stand.
- Metal Carrying Case: Provides storage and protection during transport.
